2011 SUPERINTENDENT'S SALUTE
Mt. Hood Adventure Park at Skibowl proved to be an excellent choice to host the 2011 Superintendent’s Salute. Approximately 1,200 OSP employees, retirees, family members, and friends gathered on Sunday, August 28 for the fifth time to renew friendships, see fellow employees from around the state and come together once again to celebrate the Oregon State Police.
This year’s “Salute” featured perfect weather, the beautiful Mt. Hood setting, activities for young children, rides and attractions, afternoon snacks, the Awards Program, followed by an excellent catered dinner, and a day of relaxation.
The OSP Foundation Board of Trustees extends our heartfelt thanks to Mt. Hood Ski Bowl Adventure Park at Ski Bowl for 1200 Adventure Passes, extending the use by 5 hours, and having a great staff and excellent food, Oregon Ice Cream Company for the ice cream treats, and Littlerock Band for the rockin' music! Thank you to each and every one of the volunteers and service providers who made this extraordinary event possible.
The biannual event is sponsored by the Oregon State Police Foundation through the donations of generous citizens and businesses. The mission of the OSP Foundation is dedicated to supporting and honoring the personnel of the Department of State Police, their families, the citizens of Oregon, through recognition, support, and educational development.
Following the posting of the colors by members of the OSP Honor Guard, the National Anthem, and Pledge of Allegiance Mr. Gerry Frank, OSP Foundation Chair, gave a warm welcome to everyone in attendance and introduced the OSP Foundation Board of Trustees.
Superintendent Chris Brown opened the Awards Program welcoming all in attendance before personally congratulating and presenting each recipient with their award.
This year a total of 32 awards were presented. Ten employee nominated Oregon State Police Partnership in Service Awards were presented to individuals and organizations that have helped the Department in its quest to perform at an exemplary level. Five Superintendent’s Special Recognition Awards selected by the Superintendent were presented.
The peer nominated and Foundation Awards recognize those who bring their energy and dedication to the workplace each and every day without any expectations of fanfare or awards. Awards based on peer nominations are selected by the Foundation’s Awards Selection Committee and were presented to nine Division Employees of the Year, the Vivian McLain Kirby Award, the Community Service Award, Team Excellence Award, A.W. “Bill” Sweet Compassionate Service Award, and the Gerry Frank Oregon State Police Employee of the Year Award. Founder’s Awards are selected by the co-founders of the Foundation.
We are pleased to announce the award recipients of the 2011 Superintendent’s Salute.
